Da Chicago a Cinisi per intitolare al padre l’ennesima strada che ha finanziato: torna Paul Butera

Grazie all’ennesimo finanziamento che l’imprenditore italo americano Paul Butera ha elargito al comune di Cinisi, e’ stata finalmente completata la nuova strada che collega la chiesa “Redemptoris Mater” alla SS 113. 

L’importante arteria viaria verrà inaugurata in sua presenza,  sabato 11 Maggio alle 11,30 e verrà dedicata alla memoria del padre del benefattore: Giovanni Butera.

Paolo Butera tornerà appositamente da Chicago per prendere parte a questa importante celebrazione che servirà anche a rendere omaggio alla memoria del padre che nel corso principale di Cinisi gesti’ per tanti anni un bar pasticceria prima di emigrare negli Stati Uniti con la famiglia.

Il costo dell’opera, interamente finanziato dalla donazione di Paolo Butera, è stato di circa 400 mila euro ed ha previsto la sistemazione del manto bituminoso, la realizzazione di un marciapiede, di un’area parcheggio, della rete fognaria e dell’impianto di illuminazione a led, nonché la realizzazione della segnaletica orizzontale e verticale. 

 Si tratta di un’opera pubblica progettata e realizzata attraverso un contratto di sponsorizzazione portato avanti dalla giunta dell’ex sindaco Giangiacomo Palazzolo e del suo vice Aldo Ruffino.  “Condicio sine qua non”, per la donazione delle somme necessarie, così come avvenne anche per la via Paolo Butera (in quel caso il finanziamento fu di 800 mila euro), e’ stata che a seguirne l’iter fino alla fine della realizzazione fossero comunque i due ormai ex amministratori e l’amico fidatissimo Giovanni Riccobono, titolare della Laser Srl che ha realizzato i lavori e svolto l’opera di “trait d’union” tra l’amico lontano e l’ente locale.

Paul Butera ha lasciato Cinisi quando aveva solo 14 anni; suo malgrado dovette seguire la scelta fatta dai genitori che nel tempo si è comunque rivelata la sua fortuna. Oggi 81 enne,  Paolo Butera tra l’Illinois e il Wiscounsin è stato e continua ad essere proprietario di più’ 120 supermercati che continuano a fatturare milioni di billions di dollari all’anno. Un patrimonio accumulato grazie alla sua implacabile tenacia, grande intelligenza ma anche enorme sacrificio. Una ricchezza che non gli ha mai fatto scordare le proprie origini, né l’amore per i suoi compaesani con cui è sempre stato generosissimo. Tutti gli anni torna nei luoghi in cui è nato e cresciuto, per incontrare l’amico Giovanni Riccobono, rivisita la Chiesa Madre per rendere omaggio a Santa Fara, il palazzo dei Benedettini sede del Comune di Cinisi anche perché in lui riaffiorano i ricordi della scuola frequentata proprio tra quelle mura. Quest’anno è tornato pure a Carnevale avendo finanziato uno strepitoso carro allegorico dedicato proprio ai cinisari d’America.

L’uomo d’affari nel Midwest americano che si è distinto nel settore della distribuzione alimentare nonché nel settore immobiliare, con questa ulteriore donazione e l’intitolazione della strada al padre, rinsalda l’indissolubile legame con la terra natia, lasciando ai posteri il segno delle proprie radici. 

Thanks to yet another loan that the Italian-American entrepreneur Paul Butera has given to the municipality of Cinisi, the new road connecting the “Redemptoris Mater” church to the SS 113 has finally been completed.

The important road artery will be inaugurated in his presence, on Saturday 11 May at 11.30 am and will be dedicated to the memory of the benefactor’s father: Giovanni Butera.

Paolo Butera will return specifically from Chicago to take part in this important celebration which will also serve to pay homage to the memory of his father who ran a pastry bar in the main street of Cinisi for many years before emigrating to the United States with his family.

The cost of the work, entirely financed by Paolo Butera’s donation, was approximately 400 thousand euros and involved the arrangement of the bituminous covering, the construction of a pavement, a parking area, the sewerage system and the LED lighting, as well as the creation of horizontal and vertical signs.

 This is a public work designed and built through a sponsorship contract carried out by the council of the former mayor Giangiacomo Palazzolo and his deputy Aldo Ruffino. “Condicio sine qua non”, for the donation of the necessary sums, as also happened for Via Paolo Butera (in that case the financing was 800 thousand euros), was that the process was followed until the end of the construction However, if it were the two now former administrators and the very trusted friend Giovanni Riccobono, owner of Laser Srl who carried out the work and acted as a “liaison” between the distant friend and the local authority.

Paul Butera left Cinisi when he was only 14 years old; Despite himself, he had to follow the choice made by his parents, which over time turned out to be his fortune. Now 81 years old, Paolo Butera has been and continues to be the owner of more than 120 supermarkets between Illinois and Wisconsin that continue to turn over millions of billions of dollars a year. A wealth that has never made him forget his origins, nor the love for his fellow villagers with whom he has always been extremely generous. Every year he returns to the places where he was born and raised, to meet his friend Giovanni Riccobono, he revisits the Mother Church to pay homage to Santa Fara, the Benedictine palace seat of the Municipality of Cinisi also because the memories of school resurface in him frequented right within those walls. This year he also returned to Carnival having financed an amazing allegorical float dedicated to the Cinisari of America.
